About the UPDAA

The University of the Philippines Dental Alumni Association, Inc  was formed to unite the graduates of the University of the Philippines College of Dentistry in a bond of friendship, good fellowship, mutual assistance and understanding.

It was established  to promote consultation and cooperation with the University of the Philippines in general and in the College of Dentistry in particular.

The association endeavours to provide continuing education programs for its members to maintain their competency aimed at delivering the highest quality of dental service.

Moreover, it aims to develop social sensitivity and community leadership among its members; and help uplift the dental profession in the Philippines by encouraging its members to participate actively in organized dentistry here and abroad.

The UPDAA was created in 1940, with Dr. Josefina Recto- Ramirez of Class of 1952 as the first president of the Association. The president and the Board of Trustees  were historically inducted and presented during the Foundation week celebrations to commemorate the Founding Anniversary of UPCD on February 8, 1915. Their term was for one year. However,  It was  year 1970 when it was officially decided that the president and his board serve for 2 years.

Remembering Dean Avelino Macasaet
"Doc Mac" : A Legacy of Excellence in Dental Education

We honor the remarkable journey of UPCD’s beloved Dean Avelino Macasaet, our’ Doc Mac’,  a beacon of wisdom and compassion. From his distinguished tenure as a professor of Dental Materials to his transformative leadership as the Dean from 1980-1986, Doc Mac  has left an indelible mark on the hearts of the UPCD community.

In this heartfelt tribute, we present Dean Macasaet’s final message to the UPCD  alumni and the Class of 1996 during their silver jubilee celebration in February 2021. Filmed at his serene home in Chino Hills, CA, this poignant video captures the essence of a man who dedicated his life to shaping the future of dentistry with passion and proficiency.

As we revisit these cherished moments, let us celebrate the enduring legacy of a mentor, friend, and leader. Doc Mac’s wisdom continues to resonate, inspiring us to strive for excellence and compassion in our dental practices.

May his spirit live on in the smiles he helped create and the knowledge he imparted. Here’s to Doc Mac— an exemplary professor who passionately embraced the art of teaching dentistry.”

Donate a Gift

Alumni contributions are at the heart of everything we do. Our communications, events and support for the chapter all rely on gifts to our annual fund. And, as alumni, we play a critical role in making sure our Association lives on. Your gift makes a significant impact on these efforts. Please give generously.

We look forward to engaging with you all throughout the year.

We hope you will get involved and give back to the College. Attend an Alumni Association general meeting, volunteer as a Reunion Class Representative, make a gift to the College or mentor students to enrich the lives of those around you with the skills UP College of Dentistry has given you.

Maging “UP Dentista Para sa Bayan”.
